4 out of 5 stars Great for an extra boost of vitamin C   March 7, 2010
JeanA (Upstate, NY)
I like to use this product as a bit of extra insurance against colds and sickness. I use this before I travel and anytime I have been exposed to illness. I think it really helps keep my immune system functioning at top level.

1 out of 5 stars Awful Taste, not worth the benefits   January 5, 2010
Pira (Wheeling, IL United States)
While the benefits are spoken for, the taste is so awful it's not worth it. I had to hold my nose to take it down, and it made it. But then, from the fizziness, it made me burp and the smell of it actually made me vomit. If you open the package the stuff just reeks, and I am sure that it works for people who can stomach the awful taste and smell... but it's absolutely horrible. My co-worker tried to add a packet of splenda when she tried it to make it palatable, but she couldn't get even a few swallows down even with that. If they made it in pill form, I'd probably be first in line but this stuff is just putrid. Smells like a landfill on a warm summer's day and does taste like propane, like the other posters said. I usually love Emergen-C products, but this one is really just not worth it.

Source Naturals Wellness Formula, Herbal Defense Complex, Capsules, 240 capsules is a much better way of kicking the cold/flu and getting your family back on track.

5 out of 5 stars It really works!   December 30, 2009
Hello it's me

This is the best stuff I have found for colds, flu, etc. When I feel like I am coming down with a cold, I take one in the morning. If I'm too late, and I already have the cold, I take two per day and feel almost normal for the duration of the cold. The stuff is amazing. The only time I have a full blown cold is if I'm out of immune defense. I have a toddler and, while other folks I know are sick all the time with their kids, I never get sick. As for the taste, I add 12 ounces of water, then sweeten it up and add lemonade to make it taste better, but my husband, who isn't as partial to sweetness, takes it straight and he likes the taste.

1 out of 5 stars Beware - it's now made in China   November 2, 2009

Remember when the box used to proudly proclaim that the product was made in the USA? No more - production has now been moved to China, causing job losses in our faltering economy and subjecting a product we injest to sub-standard quality control. Not for me, though - from now on I'm sticking to Airborne.

5 out of 5 stars This beats flu-shots and doctors - works every single time!   September 28, 2009

I was in Switzerland visiting a friend who was pregnant, she was the one telling me about the vitamin pack to prevent a cold, which was critical for her at the time. Of course it was a different brand and it was very pricey, considering Swiss medication is the best and most expensive. After I returned this is the closest thing I found in the states, only sold at Walgreens for a physical store, anyway. The taste is not too great but not horrible either, the reason you take it is to beat the cold when you have the first sign of sore throat or running nose, so really I don't care about how it tastes honestly. It worked for me, every single time, and for my boyfriend, and another friend. We usually take some with us when we travel, and it saved another cold while we were in Brazil just this past week - it beats taking a flu-shot or visiting the doctor. All in all, for all the trouble and pain you go through being sick and the money you pay the doctors, this is dirt cheap with guaranteed results.

Vitamin Supplements

There are a number of essential vitamins that the body needs to function properly and it is possible to take these in the form for vitamin supplement. The majority of people do not have a balanced diet and they may be lacking in certain vitamins which means that they require a vitamin supplement to ensure that they do not have a deficiency of an essential vitamin. A health professional or dietary technician is the best person to give advice on any vitamin supplement that a person should take. It is important to seek professional advice before taking any vitamin supplement. This is because there are some vitamins that can be toxic if too much is consumed and a vitamin supplement may not be appropriate if there is enough of the vitamin already in the food a person eats.

Some categories of people may require more types of vitamin supplement than others. Vegetarians are often deficient in certain vitamins that are only found in animal products, for example, and a vitamin supplement is the ideal solution to this problem. Vegetarians do need to be aware that some vitamin supplement manufacturing processes involve animal products and it is important for them to read the labels. A large number of synthetic vitamin supplement products are available which will enable a vegetarian to take them without contravening their dietary beliefs or needs.

Vitamins: Calcium Ascorbate, Ester-C K-Mag, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K1, Vitamin O, Multivitamins.

Children will often need a vitamin supplement, especially when they are extremely young. This is because a lot of children do not eat a sufficient variety of foods in their early years and a vitamin supplement can help compensate for this natural deficiency. Breast feeding has long been recommended as a source of all the essential nutrients but women who choose not to or are unable to bottle feed may be concerned as to whether their baby needs a vitamin supplement. The large majority of baby milk formulas contain additional vitamins to prevent the need for a vitamin supplement to be given. It is important to discuss any concerns over the need for a baby or child to take a vitamin supplement with a health professional to ensure that the correct solution is found.

Elderly people or those suffering from certain diseases or illnesses are other groups of people that may need to take a vitamin supplement. The body may often need a vitamin supplement to compensate for a person not being able to consume the recommended daily allowance of certain vitamins through their normal diet.
