| Customer Reviews: 5 Calories per Packet May 30, 2008 Rebecca Johnson (Washington State) After trying a number of Emergen-C products I think this is my favorite. You can add one packet to your bottled water to increase your energy. The ingredients include: Fructose, citric acid, tapioca maltodextrin, natural flavors, malic acid, silica, glycine, aspartic acid, tartaric acid, cysteine hydrochloride, 1,000 mg Vitamin C (Essential for the production of collagen), 10 mg Niacin, 25 mcg Folic Acid, 25 mcg Vitamin B 12 (Essential for a properly functioning nervous system), 50 mg Calcium, 96 mg Phosphorus, 60 mg Magnesium, 2 mg Zinc, 0.5 mg Manganese, 10 mcg Chromium, 60 mg Sodium, 200 mg Potassium, 1,000 mg MSM (for joint mobility) and 1 mg Alpha Lipoic Acid. This is also great to take if you feel a little under the weather.

Warning! May Increase Heart Rate & Blood Pressure! January 2, 2008 FilmPhile (West Coast) 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
URGENT: Important caveat and warning for people with high blood pressure, heart problems -- something in some of this manufacturer's emergenc-c products causes heart rates to increase, flutter and/or palpitations in some people -- maybe not all -- but at least three people in our family started experiencing increased heart rates, irregular heart rates, high blood pressure, sleep disturbances! We measured it on my mom's blood pressure monitor and all three went sky high -- dangerous levels!
We tried the cranberry version and the ruby lemon honey (immune defense) version. They tasted great but caused very serious symptoms!
I have a feeling there may be ephedra or something similar that is not listed -- I would bet many of the ingredients, especially the C (synthetic C = ascorbic acid and is mainly produced in and) are from China. BE CAREFUL BEFORE YOU USE THIS PRODUCT. AT THE VERY LEAST PAY ATTENTION TO INCREASES IN HEART RATE/BLOOD PRESSURE, INSOMNIA, ETC.
Once we stopped taking those we took (noted above), the problems started to subside. Something is wrong with them and I wouldn't be surprised to see a recall soon.
A Great Cold Season Booster! August 13, 2007 J. R. Carlisle (United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
An easy to take and tasty way to keep away the cold viruses during cold season! Just mix with water (or juice) and you're good to go!

Vitamin Supplements
There are a number of essential vitamins
that the body needs to function properly and it is possible to take
these in the form for vitamin supplement. The majority of people do not
have a balanced diet and they may be lacking in certain vitamins which
means that they require a vitamin supplement to ensure that they do not
have a deficiency of an essential vitamin. A health professional or
dietary technician is the best person to give advice on any vitamin
supplement that a person should take. It is important to seek
professional advice before taking any vitamin supplement. This is
because there are some vitamins that can be toxic if too much is
consumed and a vitamin supplement may not be appropriate if there is
enough of the vitamin already in the food a person eats.
Some categories of people may require more types of vitamin supplement
than others. Vegetarians are often deficient in certain vitamins that
are only found in animal products, for example, and a vitamin supplement
is the ideal solution to this problem. Vegetarians do need to be aware
that some vitamin supplement manufacturing processes involve animal
products and it is important for them to read the labels. A large number
of synthetic vitamin supplement products are available which will enable
a vegetarian to take them without contravening their dietary beliefs or
needs.

Children will often need a vitamin supplement, especially when they are
extremely young. This is because a lot of children do not eat a
sufficient variety of foods in their early years and a vitamin
supplement can help compensate for this natural deficiency. Breast
feeding has long been recommended as a source of all the essential
nutrients but women who choose not to or are unable to bottle feed may
be concerned as to whether their baby needs a vitamin supplement. The
large majority of baby milk formulas contain additional vitamins to
prevent the need for a vitamin supplement to be given. It is important
to discuss any concerns over the need for a baby or child to take a
vitamin supplement with a health professional to ensure that the correct
solution is found.
Elderly people or those suffering from certain diseases or illnesses are
other groups of people that may need to take a vitamin supplement. The
body may often need a vitamin
supplement to compensate for a person not
being able to consume the recommended daily allowance of certain
vitamins through their normal diet.
