Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Protein synthesis is one of the most vital functions taking place in each and every human body. In order for us to utilize our protein intake in an efficient manner, an ample supply of the amino acid glutathione must be present in our cells. NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) is essential in the formation of glutathione, as it directly impacts our ability to synthesize the proteins we ingest. NOW NAC (with added trace elements of molybdenum and selenium) acts as a precursor to the production of glutathione, helps ward off infections through its antioxidant/detoxification properties and facilitates the production of several digestive enzymes. Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars One of the reliable NACs that WORK   August 21, 2010

I have used NAC from varies vendors in the past but I always come back to this particular brand when I need to ENSURE that its going to do what it needs to for my lungs. This brand I have no problems with as I deal with celiac's and some brands seem to react with me more than others. This price is decent for this products typical price elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars NAC is great for preventing colds   March 9, 2009

We first tried NAC after reading a very favorable article an internist wrote in "Newsweek" magazine a few years ago. He said it's the best thing available for preventing a cold, and we absolutely agree. At the first hint that you may be coming down with something (for us, it's that slightly scratchy feeling in the throat), start taking 2 NACs a day. Continue until one day after the pre-cold warning signs are entirely gone.

The internist also wrote that he takes one daily as a preventive since he's around sick people all the time. We take one daily as preventive only when we expect to be around people with germs, such as before airline trips, concerts or other large gatherings of people, or if we know we're going to be around someone who's sick. This stuff is simply amazing! Everyone we've recommended it to thinks it's great.

If you miss that early window of opportunity for taking NAC and actually get a cold, it helps some in fighting colds too. But it's best at preventing colds in the first place. Just start taking 2 daily at the very first sign. This is one supplement we'll never be without! We've purchased this brand, as well as one other, and have found them to be equally effective.

Vitamin Supplements

There are a number of essential vitamins that the body needs to function properly and it is possible to take these in the form for vitamin supplement. The majority of people do not have a balanced diet and they may be lacking in certain vitamins which means that they require a vitamin supplement to ensure that they do not have a deficiency of an essential vitamin. A health professional or dietary technician is the best person to give advice on any vitamin supplement that a person should take. It is important to seek professional advice before taking any vitamin supplement. This is because there are some vitamins that can be toxic if too much is consumed and a vitamin supplement may not be appropriate if there is enough of the vitamin already in the food a person eats.

Some categories of people may require more types of vitamin supplement than others. Vegetarians are often deficient in certain vitamins that are only found in animal products, for example, and a vitamin supplement is the ideal solution to this problem. Vegetarians do need to be aware that some vitamin supplement manufacturing processes involve animal products and it is important for them to read the labels. A large number of synthetic vitamin supplement products are available which will enable a vegetarian to take them without contravening their dietary beliefs or needs.

Vitamins: Calcium Ascorbate, Ester-C K-Mag, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K1, Vitamin O, Multivitamins.

Children will often need a vitamin supplement, especially when they are extremely young. This is because a lot of children do not eat a sufficient variety of foods in their early years and a vitamin supplement can help compensate for this natural deficiency. Breast feeding has long been recommended as a source of all the essential nutrients but women who choose not to or are unable to bottle feed may be concerned as to whether their baby needs a vitamin supplement. The large majority of baby milk formulas contain additional vitamins to prevent the need for a vitamin supplement to be given. It is important to discuss any concerns over the need for a baby or child to take a vitamin supplement with a health professional to ensure that the correct solution is found.

Elderly people or those suffering from certain diseases or illnesses are other groups of people that may need to take a vitamin supplement. The body may often need a vitamin supplement to compensate for a person not being able to consume the recommended daily allowance of certain vitamins through their normal diet.
